Hi Ladies.  I enjoy wearing 1950's/pinup clothing during the summer, but I would like to include my wardrobe into the winter, snow, colder months (I live in Canada).  Does anyone have any options for clothing during the colder/winter months-  I am thinking wool skirts and pantyhose but what about shoes?

You know, this discussion pops up a lot around here ;)

For me, in winters past I've gone with thicker skirts, opaque stockings (I can't stand tights/pantyhose), and ankle, calf-ish, or knee-high boots.  This summer, I discovered the wonderfulness that is swing trousers, sadly my first pair were bought on the cheap due an issue with them and are now waiting to be turned into high-waisted shorts,  but I'm hopeful I can get another pair or two before it turns too horrid.

Oh, and I also intend on at least attempting to pretend that my as-yet-un-purchased PUG capri pants are 'proper' trousers by hiding them in knee boots haha

That's not a bad idea actually Sammi, plus they're a heck of lot easier to slip in under boots. Are there any kind of boots styles or brand you'd specifically recommend?

Now that is a question ;)

Without owning a pair of them yet, I'm not sure; I have a pair of sort-of slouchy/zipper-free heeled knee boots (kind of like these: http://tinyurl.com/lw7h3yp), which is my only option at the moment, as the only other pair of boots I own probably aren't long enough to turn capris into trousers.

I don't have a horse, but found a lot of use in yard boots last autumn/winter/spring, so am eyeing up something like these: http://tinyurl.com/myzxx4t (or these: http://tinyurl.com/plt5jbs in black, if money allows).

I do that sort of thing all winter! Layer on knee socks to make up any gaps between your capris and boots and you are good to go lol :)

I was going to post the exact same question!
Because here in Italy summer is still going on but since I plan to sew my own clothes I need to work in advance and I'm trying to decide what to do for autumn/fall season.

My biggest question is... what should I wear in my upper region... a blouse? a sweater? a wool jacket? I tried to look on the internet but I wasn't satisfied... btw I bought a Burda Pattern I think could be nice, I want to show it to you, maybe it could be helpful :)

Lovely pattern!

I think the same! I've only made some Carnival costumes and some cosplay before sewing serious stuff I could wear everyday, so far only skirts, but I'm ready to face a jacket!

...what should I wear in my upper region... a blouse? a sweater? a wool jacket?...

Personally, I wear the same tops but with a cardigan, or a warmer coat when going outdoors; though I tend not to feel the cold too much

Okay thanks a lot :D I really need to buy some lovely cardigans, I have none.
Basically I have nothing in my closet :D

I love the Burda pattern, thanks, but sadly I can't sew but I am learning :)  I wear long jackets in the fall/winter with vintage hats and or ear warmers.  I use Pinterest so see how the ladies in the 1950's dressed for inspiration.

I think a blouse with a cardigan is nice with a pencil skirt.  I am going to post some winter pics once it arrives here in NS, Canada.

Collectif is a good place for proper winter vintage repro clothes. All the Californian brands really don't do proper winter clothes even in their fall/winter seasons.
