How much shorter do you want it? I think the skirt on that one is some 30 inches or so. The kick pleat is only like 6-10 inches so you might have to shorten it all the way off which would be sad. What is your inseam? Mine is an entire 32"  and this dress still goes to just below my knee (same as on Doris Mayday) so if you want it to fit like it does her you're going to have to take off the full 7 inches. I think your best option would be to take the pleat out entirely but otherwise you would be better off having a tailor move it up. Wouldn't be that hard to do, but you would have to live with a seam just below your rump.

Ah yes it would be a shame to lose the pleat, it's half the prettyness of the dress. Looks like i'll have to just keep on searching for things for short people, alterations cost an arm and a leg in australia, would cost me another $60 or so to get the pleat moved so it's not really worth it. Thanks for your help, I always forget just how short I am haha!
