Every time I do a pin up look, I pull out all the stops and one of my fancy dresses. Don't get me wrong, I loooooove it, but I really would love doing a scaled down version for everyday.

So does anyone have any good links to hair and/or make up tutorials for quick looks? Also any links for everyday clothing ideas would be awesome.

Thanks so much :D

Try looking up old photos of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, Greta Gable, Betty Davis, Betty Page, etc. and see what you like about their casual styles. I personally love sweaters and capris, jeans, nice t-shirts, etc.

A lot of things you'll see on the above mentioned 50s models is that most of them hardly every 'dressed up' according to 'then' standards. You see Marilyn and Audrey wearing black turtleneck sweaters a LOT and then pairing it with jeans or a skirt or cigarette pants/capris. I've found that separates are almost always easier to get away with, but you can also tone down some dresses by just popping a cardigan over them. Im personally a pencil/wiggle sort of gal but if you like flared skirts some are less obvious than others (I.E. the Jenny dress is SUPER flared where the Lucy dress is only moderately flared) Usually the less flared ones are easier to pull off in public because they aren't 'trying' as hard.

Last but not least, everything looks fancier with heels so you can try wearing your outfit with ballet flats or a low wedge (I personally wear low wedges with almost everything)

Hair - try a sock bun! High pony tails are great too for really fast updos.

Makeup - Go as light as possible, I.E. no lipstick with just eyeliner or lipstick with a brown or grey eyeliner that doesn't stand out too much

I love the idea of clipping a broach to a headband, but have never seen a non-slip headband, I shall have to go looking!

Hope that helps! I try to wear mineral powder most of the time, myself.

I am a fan of thrift shops, so I always keep my eyes peeled for swing style skirts, or A-line skirts. On lazy days I just wear one of those with a plain t-shirt and cardigan and black flats. I am a stay at home mom so wearing PUG style clothes all day can be a little too much for me! Or I will wear some dark blue capris with a cute t-shirt and flats or Iron Fist heels, if I am feeling crazy that day!
