I was wondering what were everyone's best way to cheer themselves up after a rough day/week/month? I'm in a rough patch at the moment, and I don't feel like doing anything at all, especially not making any effort when I leave the house.

I need a way to relax, make myself feel happier, and more beautiful! Can you help me?

I agree, it is hard to force some time for yourself when there's other people to worry about. I need to see to my own problems too, even though I feel like I need to focus on them a lot more. But doing so is the route of a lot of my problems as well.

Thank you very much x

I'm a pro at feeling bad about myself. I've been seeing a therapist for the past few months though, and it's really been making a difference. I had let myself get into habits of feeling unhappy over things I couldn't control. I'm still struggling with it, and I often don't want to do anything.

Things that have been helping me:
-Just talking with my therapist. She's a nice, neutral ear to hear about my problems without being offended or annoyed. If you don't have access to a therapist, it's probably helpful to talk to ladies on here who are on your side and don't personally know some of the people in your life.
-Cleaning. When I feel like things are out of control, at least my closet is organized or my DVDs are alphabetized.
-Doing my hair/makeup in a new way. It keeps me busy, and the end-product is fun.
-Yoga. Even a little bit of stretching makes my mind feel better.
-Coloring/painting/creative outlet. I get out the crayons and color something. It brings out the carefree kid in me.
-Dress up in your PUG and run errands. No one needs to know you're dressed up for no reason. You'll feel pretty and productive.

I know it's hard to get up and do some of these things sometimes though. I would lay in bed and feel too lazy to even watch television. It was sad and hard for my loved ones to watch. After really scrutinizing my feelings and figuring out why I felt a certain way, I was able to start accepting what I felt and could start to move on.

I hope you feel better. It can be torture feeling down. It does take a little effort to start feeling better, but it's worth it.

Those are really great suggestions, Jenn. Thanks a lot x

Those are good suggestions above . We live in such a fast paced society today that I think just taking time out a bit [ for your own sake ] and ssslllowwing down , if you 'dress up ' for it's own sake do it at a slow [ even sexy ! ] pace, enjoy  tea using a tea set with slow gentle music or audio book at a low volume, dressing up can be a creative art form [ and for me it is ] and if you are near back roads take a slow drive/ look for interesting places to photo / smell the roses . This may sound a little nuts but ' think aloud ' be your own ' therapist ' ;-) . The key thing thou is to slow down enjoy life , good health and well being is very important to us as a society x

Wow I love the idea of going for a slow drive and exploring the countryside. I live in a rural area, so that is definitely something I could do. Thanks so much!

Well if it's a bad day or week that I've had I can usually make myself smile by just dancing to funny music. Songs like "I'm Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO or Gangnam Style by Psy can usually do the trick for me, I've always been a bit of a dancing fool in that way and it's always been a fun way to cheer myself.

If it's a rough month or several months that I'm going through, well for that I really need to sometimes count on the people around me. Even if you only have one person in your life that you know that you can trust with personal problems WITHOUT judging you, it can really make all the difference in the world just to talk to that person. Just having someone to listen to you when you talk about what's wrong really can go a long way in making you feel that you're not alone :)

Speaking of not being alone, there's A LOT of great advice here on the forum. I guess we've really all been there before.
