A fun part of the pinup girl style of coarse are the clothes, but also the hair! It’s definitely the cherry on top of the cake of pulling the whole look together. Though I had not seen my natural hair texture in vintage photos from the 1940s and 50s, I am still given ideas of what to create from the photos that I have seen. My hair is mid-length, but I have fun with hairpieces and wigs, to change the texture and length for creating different styles.

In your reply, I would like to see pictures of vintage hairstyles for every hair length: short, medium, and long. It can be close ups of you, your friends, or favorite photos of individuals rockin’ vintage hair styles. Try to group the same hair lengths together per reply. Thanks!

I have very very long and thick hair, so was a lil impressed with myself when I was able to achieve very light kind of forties waves/finger waves (hard to tell what the fall under because of how big they are haha)

xoxo.

I've recently started setting my hair every night and have done so for the past week, but these are the only two pictures I have of my styles so far.

You can't see the back from this angle, but the rest of my hair is curled and pinned up just above the edge of the bandana:

Ignore the bags under my eyes, this was taken at work at 7am:

i found a picture of my well done victory rolls, i love the look but it takes way too long for everyday wear :)

The back was also up in a third roll but you can't see it in the picture

Oooooh nice! I can't manage two on top like this unless they are on the side and perfectly even. I love the assymetrical front victory rolls.

I believe i would be in the short category. This is a look i achieved using a curling iron, so if you forget to set  your hair this isn't a very quick method but it gets the job done.

Here is a link to a tutorial..        How to VIdeo

My latest creation.  Tutorial can be found on my blog: www.bouffantsandbeehives.com or in Lauren Rennell's Vintage Hairstyling book.

I love this post! I'm so bad at fixing my hair, but this is awesome for ideas. I see a few I can't wait to start practicing!

Does anyone else use a sockbun for curls? When I feel lazy, I just throw my hair into a sockbun overnight and get giant, floofy curls in the morning.

What is a sockbun??

It keeps me from sleeping on my hair. I put my hair into the pony and dampen it a bit to keep the hair in the sockbun. No product or heat styling necessary. Just spritz with hairspray in the morning.
