All I can say is spend the extra money and purchase a good pair. It is just a waste to buy cheap ones as I have found out.

Can I add to this? What is denier, how do you decide how much you want or what is good or which to buy???

As I understand it from sewing class and purchasing nylons and bedding, the higher the count of the denier, the denser the threads and the heavier the weight .. so a more delicate nylon would have a lower count and a thicker would have a higher .. depending on what purpose the nylons are serving, summer wear or winter wear you might change what count you're looking for (You can google denier or denier count and read further into it)

I dont really wear stockings all that much but I follow Dita Von Teese on Facebook and one piece of advice that I think is pretty solid is whichever stockings you buy it is a good idea to buy two pairs of the same stocking so that if one runs you can replace it with one of the extras. WIsh I could be of more help!

I used to get mine at Vicky's Nylons, but I'm not sure if they are still in business and I can't access the site from work to check. :-(  I got a REALLY good garter belt there, and lots of cuban heeled and regular seamed stockings. There was also a ton of advice about how to fit stockings there. Someone let me know if that site still exists!

In the winter I'll wear a thicker selection from Secret.
valued price and for me always reliable.
I have dished out more $$ for fancy stockings and nylons but when I do end up ripping them i feel sooo guilty.
I also have to have 1 drawer for nylons with high heels and 1 drawer for nylons i wear with my dr. martens and converse.
