I for one don't know that it works for me (my eye shape). Then again, I'm pretty sure I'm doing it wrong. Would love a YouTube tutorial that others have used that can help with this (I loved using Cherry Dollface's one on victory rolls - would've never made them without that tutorial!)! Monet, maybe you could do a play-by-play that we could use???
Awesome - let me know when! Looking forward to it!
Maybelline makes one that has a very nice long thin felt tip. I live on a budget so I have to go cheap and this is the best one I've used. The liquid is nice and black and I've had an easy time making the little wings that are so coveted even though I'm old and I have wrinkled eyelids!
Somedays I have that problem, too, it's the worst! The real issue is that our faces (and by our I mean everyone's!) are not perfectly symmetrical. So you have to end up cheating one eye to get both eyes to match. Does that make sense? Sometimes it helps to just do the wing first and compare both wings and adjust before doing your lashline. It's definitely a practice makes perfect ordeal. :)
I've had good luck with liquid liner as long as the brush isn't too flexible. I find an almost felt tip style brush works much better for me. I've bought expensive and cheap and find that price doesn't make much difference. Right now I'm using ELF and having reasonably good luck with it. As long as I'm not trying to rush I can usually pull it off.
I sometimes use a finger in the outer corner of my eye to stretch my eye really flatly. It helps me draw a fine, smooth line and I can get the wings done right.
Keeping them perfectly even from eye to eye is another story...
People ask me about my eyeliner everyday at work. This is how I do it. I start with Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner on my lids. Creating the base for my liquid liner. I use liquid because it has a sharper point and I can use zero liner brushes this way. The base of a waterproof creme liner on my lids makes the liquid "blacker" and more even, I've found. It doesn't have to be perfect, just on the lid. Then I use L'Oreal's Lineur Intense brush tip liquid liner. I've used felt tips, but the felt ends up going bad/losing its shape. I cover my lid, tight line on the inside, and a wedge shape going out to where my tips will be. I then begin to creat my "wings" "tips" whatever you want to call them. I start with my right usually, and just do one swipe to get the bottom of the tip in place. I go to the left and do the same. From there, I fill in the tips and connect them to my lid liner. I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but it seems to work for me. It takes me a few minutes to do my liner everyday, but people always tell me how much they love it! I've even had ladies ask if I do it myself or if its a sticker. Haha!
I've used Rimmel before and I liked it but now when I go back to get it it's usually sold out. I use Maybelline liquid with felt tip which is nice too1
I have found that the eyeliner I used has made all the difference. Once I tried using the geisha girl liner. I was like *bam* cat eyes, plus I had watched another hour of youtube tutorials. *giggles*. I find that by holding out the skin on your eye when you draw on the wings helps, and the point of the wing should line up in a straight line from the corner of your eye, to wing point to corner of eyebrow. Unless you want super dramatic cat eyes of course, but this general rule works great for day. The other thing I find helps is making a dot on each eye where you want the point to end, it's the only way I can make them even, lol Hope this helps!
What's the geisha girl liner?
Sorry Geisha Ink. Here is a link to their page. Their mascara is amazing too. It doesn't smudge at all.
