Hi all!

So I just recently heard about the Viva Las Vegas weekend coming up next month. (I know. I am SO out of the loop haha). I'm really curious about it, but the website doesn't give a very good impression of what the events are actually like. Also, I'm a college student working part time for low wages, so I need to know that it's worth it before I invest all the money it would take to go! I was hoping someone could answer some questions I have. :)

1. Overall, what's it like?!

2. Does everyone dress up all vintage-y?

3. Is there anything to do at the Car Show besides only looking at the cars? (Don't get me wrong, I love old cars, but unfortunately I would most likely ONLY be able to attend the car show, not the other event.)

4. My husband is pretty old fashioned and modest (also has never been to Vegas before!)... So, since this is Vegas... How risque does it get?

5. How far away from the main area of the strip (the MGM, Exaclibur, New York, New York, etc.) is it?

Thanks everyone!!

OH my gosh. I HAVE TO GO. It just sounds like wayyy too much fun! I am absolutely planning on going next year! Thank you for your input! :)

Hi Nikki,

My husband and I will be going to the full event for the first time this year so I'll be sure to post about it afterwards!  We only went to the car show last year because it was all we could afford but it was super awesome.  (here's a link to what I posted about it last year:Viva Las Vegas 16 Car Show Recap).

The ticket to the car show is only $30 which is a lot cheaper than the $120 if you're on a budget.  You can stay at a cheaper hotel off of the strip (the Rio was super nice) and then drive to The Orleans on Saturday for the car show (free parking) and you can drive to the strip to walk around, gamble, eat, whatever at the other hotel/casinos on Friday and Sunday if you go for the weekend.  Everything is like 5 minutes driving (too far to walk), and The Orleans has a free shuttle that takes you to and from the strip if you stay at a hotel on the strip.  Last year I signed up for the rewards programs at different casinos (it's free) and it came in handy because they send you offers like 2 nights free ($20 resort fee per night, but paying $40 beats paying regular price for hotel accommodations for this year's Viva).

I strongly recommend taking a parasol/umbrella to the car show, it's a huge parking lot so it was a lifesaver, I even had guys commenting that they wished they could carry one around!  Take cash for the vendors (lots of vendors: food, drinks, clothing, accessories, car parts/accessories, signings by different important peeps).  Take comfy shoes (I took comfy heels for pics but flats for after).  Take some gum, water, and body spray if you get too hot (it gets hot).  You can see the bands that play outside on the main stage and see the pinup contest.  Hope this helps!!
