Hey girls! I need some advice since I'm pretty new to corseting. Just little more than a month ago I bought my first otr corset called the Baby Corset from What Katie Did. I don't have plans to start waist training to permanently reduce my waist (thats why I bought a otr corset for the moment), but I would like to occasionally wear the corset under my clothing for hours straight(you know for going out, and looking good). Is it necessary to waist train daily to be able to wear corsets long periods of time or can just wearing it a couple of days a week is just all I need to help me to be able to tolerate the snug?
Sorry if I might sound confusing there is so much I would like to ask but its so hard to put into words. I have been trying to do my research on the subject for a month now, but I'm still confused!

Hi Nina!
The short answer: no, you don't need to wear corsets for long periods just to wear it once in a while under clothes. I've certainly done it. I've cinched all the way down in a brand new corset for photoshoots and was fine.
Will it be uncomfortable? Definitely. One purpose for "waist training" with a particular corset is to first "break in" the corset so it forms more to YOUR body as well as conditioning yourself mentally and physically to endure it for long periods of time. Most likely at the reduction you would WANT to wear it at so it looks good under clothes you won't last too long in it; couple hours tops. But if that's as long as you plan to wear it then that's fine! Just listen to your body so you don't hurt yourself.
As Connie says, break it in--don't tighten it to extremes the first few times you wear it. Never force it on or off--loosen the laces first. I don't agree with Virginia that it will be uncomfortable--unless you really cinch it in as tightly as it can possibly go. But there's usually no need for that, corsets work very well if not taken to extremes.
all good advice. I would also add that you should start by wearing for short periods of time, so for a couple of hours while you clean the house etc to get used to the constriction & then you can make adjustments easily as you need.
Lucy's corstry has some really good tips eg. no soft drink in your corset due to bubbles expanding in your tummy, plus she reviews a lot of different brands & styles http://lucycorsetry.com/
