I have short, barely there lashes and nothing seems to help!

I've got a dozen or so different mascaras floating around in my purse or makeup drawer, and none seem to make much of a difference. I really like the look of eyelash extensions, but I've never been successful at putting them on myself. I'm a bit of a blinker. I've been working with strips because I thought they'd be easier. If anyone has any tips on what kind of lashes to use (and how to apply) I'd be ever so grateful!

I have had no real luck with makeup though if u see an eye doctor that can recommend Latisse it helps build your lashes. Other than that I use thickening types of mascara. I hate falsies so I don't wear them.

I've wondered about the Latisse, but one of the warnings is it could possible permanently darken your eye color! Has anyone experienced this?

Hey Jenni, i've actually seen someone use this and I have seen the eye color darken. It works but depends on bad you want to do it if you have light colored eyes

I was really rubbish at putting them on straight until i got one of these little tools. I own both and prefer the longer handled one but my BFF love the shorter handled one.

this applicator

or this style

Also I used to do semi-permenent eyelash extensions... Lavish Lashes was the company the girl who did mine went thru. they were lovely cause you just really didn't have to think about it. The eye darkening warnings on Latisse have made me too afraid to use it. The Lavish Lashes were the best solution but they are crazy of expensive and the girl who did mine moved away I just haven't been motivated to find an new girl.

I've seen those around, but never with the long handle, I'll try to pick one up!

I will admit I am not the greatest at it either but I very rarely use false lashes, but that being said the best piece of advice I ever got was to cut the lashes into three separate sections and apply them one at a time  that way they don't look completely fake but more natural and as sad as it is I was told this by a drag queen! I love her to death and she is one good queen so I took the advice and it totally worked!

Ha! I thought about doing this but didn't want "corners" around my lashes! I might give it a go since you say it worked!

I am a huge falsie girl ;) I wear them wear them all the time. I am a fan of the strips, I highly advise against actual extensions.

Since I wear strips all the time I decide to get the extensions done, they blend nicer and when done well they look very natural or as  dramatic as you like. However, they thin the natural lashes too much and my shortened. This may have been just my experience but because of that I am even more adament about putting the strips on now.

My lashes weren't this short and thin before when I woulld just use strips. I love using the double lashes you can buy them at Ulta.com or your local Ulta these are more dramatic, I like these for photoshoots or shows, or just simple single strips for everyday.

Your glue makes a huge difference, make sure you apply all eye makeup before you put them on. Use one to two coats of mascara, don't cake on the mascara then apply them. This assures the best adhesion. Blending them together I dont put mascara all the way through the lashes, it builds the mascara on the lashes and they don't look nice after that. Plus with proper care you can get a few more uses out of a pair of strips. I use http://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/eyes/mascara/mineral_infused_mas...

I found this mascara not to be thick and just enough of black to blend, once the lashes are on I apply coat stopping where my natural lashes end so they blend the bottom in.

Cutting them into 3 actually will help too if need be. Also be sure they fit your eyes if not they need to be trimmed otherwise they will bother and hurt.

hope this helps.

Thanks Scarlet! I have a wedding to go to in less than a month, so I really want to get gussied up! I've always tried putting lashes on before my makeup because im afraid it would smudge. Do you just use the little tube of glue that comes with the lashes, or something else?

glad i could help you out. lash glue i use ardel or benefits glue. i only use the ones in the box if its from the ardel brand or eyelux brand.

another tip i forgot to mention, don't apply the lashes right away when the glue is on, let it become a little tacky so they stick better. putting them on too soon can be messy. also it comes in clear or dark. the clear is white and dries clear, but really its a little white. you can add a little bit of liner over it if the glue shows up too much. also to get a thin line of glue if you find it too hard from the bottom you can use a tooth pick to help.

i don't use the completely clear glues, i have found they burn and do not work to save my life.

Use a good glue : duo surgical adhesive. you can find this at Mac stores or online.

The best lashes for a reasonnable price : Ardell...hands down. Lot's of different types... from the most natural looking to the most photoshoot/red carpet style you can imagine !

When you plan on putting on lashes apply a quite thick cat eyeliner first. It'll hide any imperfection and will look very sexy.

use twizzers to place on the strip of lashes. Don't get upset if it's not great right away... practice makes perfect !

Here's a great website.... my favorite for anything lashes related : Madame Madeline

Viola

Definitely !

No need to break the bank for good quality stuff but as it's close to your eyes & you're not used to wear a lot of make up everyday definitely check out the glue I told you about :) it's the mildest & I never had irritation problem or my lashes falling off or anything like this :)

Duo surgical adhesive

(it's latex based so if you are allergic to it just make sure you buy a latex free eyelash glue instead...)

The lashes I wear all the time & which are my ultimate favorite are these : Ardell invisibands demi wispies

They're only $3,49 on that website & they have an amazing deal of decreasing the price to $2.60 when you buy 2 pairs (or more) of the same style !

IMO they're the best... they look super natural but still dramatic enough that it looks a 100 times more glamourous than just mascara alone !

I have 4 pair of these in my make up bag ! Use them about everytime I put make up on :)

The important part is to make sure you peel the glue residues off the strips after you took them off... that way you'll be able to wear them quite a few times :)

Grab the glue & the lashes, & for about $10 you'll have everything you need to practice ! Ordered from them many time... very reliable !

So the first picture is natural brows. The second is with the left brow done. What I'm asking you ladies is some critic on it as I've never actually done my brows before I don't want to look silly. Continue
