Hey guys :) It's me Tahitia again popping in with another Pinup Girl Style blog post. I've done a few of these now, and since I'm all together NEW to blogging I'm still not sure that I'm doing it right. What I mean is, am I writing about things that matter to people? Much less things that people want to read about?
Truthfully I just don't know yet. All that I DO know is that I think I like this so far. It's given me a good way to share some thoughts and personal feelings with like minded ladies like all of you, and how can that be a bad thing?
So here we go!
It Was An Awesome PUGY Halloween :)
Alright so it's been eight days since Halloween, but I was waiting until I had the Ginger and Shrug dress pictures to share along with my Halloween pics before I posted anything.
Like I had said two weeks ago in my Puggy Halloween blog post I went in a vintage Playboy Bunny costume that a friend of mine helped make for me. It was my second year in a row going with a vintage/retro fashion theme for Halloween and I couldn't be any happier with how it looked. I definitely owe my friend big time for helping make this costume a reality, Even though my friend and I nearly went crazy adjusting and re-adjusting the costume the night before the Halloween Fundraiser Ball to make sure there was enough material covering my bust, it all worked out perfectly in the end.
The fluffy tail, the adorable ears, the shirt cuffs and bow ties all came together for another awesome PUGY Halloween. For next year, I'm still torn between a Radio City Music Hall Rockette or a vintage swimsuit pageant winner (using one of PUG's vintage bikini's)... that might take me all year to decide :)
Atomic Ginger and the Perfect Shrug
Atomic Ginger eh? Now THAT's not a bad burlesque name :) He he! Anyways, this outfit here I'm wearing is the Ginger Dress in pink atomic print with the Perfect Pinup Shrug over top. Now originally I was just looking to pick up a new shrug from PUG to wear to a baby shower when I went browsing through the site. When I saw the dress that the lovely Carlole Catanzaro was wearing under the shrug, well I was in love :) I'd been saving up for a new dress for the Christmas season anyways so how could I go wrong? It was perfect for the baby shower and once again there was no shortage of compliments.
Who here ever gets tired of hearing friends and strangers alike telling you how much they love your dress? ;) My PUG Style friend Brandi told me in my last blog post that the Ginger dress was a great choice for a baby shower and oh wow was she right!
I'm 29" in the waist and 37" in the bust so I went with the medium, and it really was the perfect fit. The medium was just snug enough in the waist to look amazing without crushing me on the inside, and tight enough up top to flatter my chest without squeezing the girls up, out and everywhere. The boobs were in the right spot ;)
Now as for the shrug, I was a little unsure if I was ordering the right size by going with the size chart on the site. I ended up going with the small only because that's what size I was when I ordered the beautiful Masuimi Shrug. Low and behold the small fit just fine, though I honestly think I might have been able to go with an extra-small what with there being a bit of room in the arm holes.
No matter what which size I get I'll definitely be getting the same shrug in white to wear with some of my darker dresses just as soon as I have the money again. I definitely give the Atomic Ginger Dress and Perfect Pinup Shrug 5 out of 5 stars :)
Deadly Dames Capris Pants
So here I am in my Deadly Dames Capris Pants that I bought back before this summer. The bengaline baby blue is just a gorgeous colour that completes the vintage look of the pants. Now like I said earlier I'm a 29" waist and my hips are 41". So with this in mind I went with the large size.
The biggest flaw with these pants is that they fit REALLY tight, more so than I was expecting and especially in the waist and in the hips. They look good in pictures but when I order my next pair I think I'll order an extra-large. That should give me an extra couple badly needed of inches in the waist and hips.
So if your a curvy hippy girl like me I'd recommend ordering a size up to be safe. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend the Deadly Dames Capris Pants :)
Now in case anyone is wondering, this picture was part of a photoshoot I did back in September with my always amazing friend and incredible photographer Melanie Gillis. I'd mentioned the "Rebel Rockabilly Girl Photoshoot" way back in my Labour Day blog post and OH M GOD that shoot was so much fun!
I normally don't go posting pictures of me in my bra around the web, but this picture I'm going to be submitting to Retro Lovely Magazine like Micheline Pitt suggested in her very helpful blog post How to become a Pinup Model - The Truth Behind the Red Lipstick. Wish me luck ladies :)
As for the bra yourself if you're interested, this one is the Harlow Bullet Bra in vintage peach by What Katie Did. This was my first piece of vintage lingerie that I've ever bought I couldn't be any happier. Next time I need something vintage again I'll definitely be going back to Katie!
Office Casual PUG
Now this outfit here is literally something I just grabbed today before I had to go to a meeting. It honestly wasn't my intention to put a PUG outfit together, it just so turned out that my best office skirt and professional looking sweater were both PUG originals and WOW did they work together :)
This combination features the Joanie Top in Knit Grey along with the Perfect Pencil Skirt in Black. I reviewed the Joanie Top back in September (I loved it!) and the Perfect Pencil Skirt is from my order last spring which I still have to post the official review for. I will get to it... I will... one day :) I am so behind on posting these pictures with reviews I swear ;)
In short I love the skirt, I'm 29" in the waist and 41" in the hips and the large fits like a glove! Here's a picture of me that my hubby took after I got back from the meeting. I'll definitely be using this combination again in the future, it's just too cute not to :)
Around the PUG Style Blogosphere
There really have been a lot of great blog posts lately here on Pinup Girl Style. Everything ranging from retro-themed trips across your home state to deep and personal accounts of experiences both good and bad that brought women to the point they're at today. So I just thought I'd recap some of my favourite posts from the last little while.
First there's the Love Letter - Life and the Progression of Me, Myself and I post by Jessica about struggles with body image issues and eating disorders, but most of all the importance of self-love. I can't say that I know Jessica, but I know that she must be a very brave woman to open herself up and share such a painful journey with the community. I'm glad that she did though, and I'm glad that a community like this can really help women find happiness in who they are today. Thank you Jessica so much for sharing this beautiful post!
Next we have another post by Jessica again on her PUG Across Indiana in 8 Months post. Now this is just an amazing idea for a PUG adventure, and it was so much fun to read it. It's an account of her visits to friends and family over 8 months in her home state of Indiana. I'm not going to bother trying to sum up her stories because I could never do them justice, so just PLEASE go read it for yourself if you haven't already and you won't be sorry that you did!
It's actually made me wonder if I could pull off a similar PUG odyssey of sorts and then collect them all into a single blog post after say 6 or 10 months. I can think of a few events that I could travel to to share the PUG style. Heck, this might even inspire me to form a Pinup Ontario group here to organize some get togethers that I could chronicle too. Thank you so much again Jessica for the inspiration for this!
It was also fun to read Lori Anne's blog post on how much fun her first 3 months at team Pinup have been as a photo assistant. It just goes to show that not only does PUG make and sell incredible products and bring people together, but they're also the best place to work :)
The last blog post that I want to mention is Alyssa's post on Pinup Girl Style itself, and her review of it. I pretty much agree with everything she says in her post about how great the forums have been at helping get advice you can't find anywhere else, how through it's features we've found friends half a world away we never would have met before without PUG's help, and most importantly how there are just so many darn fan photo's of AMAZING looking outfits and even more amazing looking ladies.
So there have been a lot of good blog posts lately, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading even more now that Christmas is getting closer :)
Forum Time :)
As Alyssa had mentioned in her blog post, there really is no better way on Pinup Girl Style to get advice than through the forum pages. There are a couple that I really quickly want to mention so bear with me just a bit longer guys :) First there was Cela Hyatt's post about wanting to start her own Pinup themed blog. I don't actually follow blogs right BUT if she or anyone else here at PUG Style can start one up I'll definitely subscribe. I'm always curious to hear what my fellow Pinup Ladies have to say about life, work and everything else :)
Then there was CBK Siren had a great forum post on Cold Weather Clothes, something that as a Cannuck in November I'm VERY mindful of :) There was a great exchange on everything from fall and winter retro coats to stylish vintage looking gloves. Which reminds me, I am just in love with the new Vintage Inspired Opera Length Gaspar Gloves :)
So that's it for now ladies. One last thing that I want to say is that Jessica's love letter blog post from earlier really did make me stop and think about all the developments in my own life that lead me to where I am here. There is a lot to share, but I think I'll wait until next time to do that so that I can really think long and hard about how to describe my own experiences.
I will say that it's been really incredible to just chat with so many women like the ones here in the Pinup Girl Style community.
Take care!
Tahitia :)
Thank you SO much first off all for your kind words! I'm glad you like the Rebel Rockabilly pic too, I was really nervous about what people would think of it.
I know what you mean about being surrounded by so much positivity in your life when you're here. If you're ever down for whatever reason you really don't have to look any further than this site for the kind of people that will make everything right again :)
I can't wait to read more of your blogs too in the future. They really do an amazing job of showing readers just what the Pinup Girl Style means in not just your day to day wardrobe but your entire life, how you live it and how it really can bring women together that should be together.
Also P.S. your pictures are AMAZING! I have to get the Deadly Dames Capris in black like you have ;)
Thank you so much Brandi! You always say the sweetest things in your comments. I really was happy with how the bunny costume turned, like I said I'll definitely be sticking with the pinup'ish theme for next years Halloween costume too since it's worked out so well 2 years running now :)
I really did like the Ginger Dress too, and you are right about it being perfect for the warm weather, which I REALLY can't wait for it to come again. I was actually really worried when I got the dress that the shade would wash me out since I'm pretty pale naturally, but it so suits my skintone :)
I totally know what you mean about the bullet bra, it took me some time to save up between life and other PUG orders for one. If you do get one though you won't regret it, they're pretty awesome, and I highly recommend What Katie Did ;)
Like you said though, unless we all win the lottery we have to weigh our options when you have limited funds :)
I am super jealous of your blogging skills <3
Awwwwww, thank you very much. You are so sweet! I'm realy happy that you guys are enjoying my blogs, though I still have a lot to learn since I'm just getting started. It's definitely been so much fun learning to blog here at Pinup Girl Style. :)
Thanks for the mention! I have been dying to get those blue capris, and you look smashing in them. Also now I must go and purchase the atomic dress & shrug - so cute!
And yes, your blogs are a great read - I was wondering how your bunny costume turned out :)
First I want to say thank you so much Alyssa, you are so kind. I had so much fun reading your blog Pinup Girl Style.. A Review. It was very well written and I absolutely agree with what you said. :)
For the deadly dame capris I definitely recommend going up a size if you're in between sizes, they can be a tight fit, lol. I think you'll lobe the atomic dress and shrug ;) I actually ended up buying that same shrug in white cause I loved it so much, lol. And the atomic dress is somehow both gorgeous and adorable at the same time.
I'll soon be posting a new blog once I get some pics taken of me in my new PUG purchase, but in the meantime keep those great blogs coming and I hope you have a fantastic day!
Hugs! :)
Oh my God thank you so much! You are really sweet and YES you are just going to LOVE the Ginger Dress in Atomic Pink :) I can see it being a versatile dress all year long!
You see this is another reason why I love this site so much, it really gives users the chance to see how PUG`s dresses, shirts, swimsuits and separates look on their fellow users. It really makes deciding on purchases a heck of a lot easier... and fun too :)
Hugs! :)
