So for once this post made it to Pinup Girl Style before it got posted on my personal blog, Junebugs and Georgia Peaches but that just means y'all get to see it first! I'm sure all my fellow literary pinups are cringing at the title, but my other option was "You Can Stand Under my Umbr-ELLA" and well... I don't want anyone standing under my dress. ; )
I cannot begin to explain how excited I was 5 months ago (I print-screened it because I was so excited) when the first photo of the Ella Dress popped up on my Instagram feed. The day they were set to be released, I just so happened to be on the PUG site and thought I was hallucinating when they appeared in the "new arrivals" section. Since this was such a serendipitous event, I purchased one immediately.
What drew me to the Ella Dress in Yellow, even via photos, was the fit + print being perfectly reminiscent of something my 50s spirit animal, June Cleaver, would've worn. I wrote a post about Pinup Girl Clothing a couple of weeks ago and a few of my blog readers commented on the fact that although PUG is a reproduction company, so many of their pieces LOOK authentically vintage, and I feel that this dress is the perfect example of that.
The top has a gathered peasant bodice with a little bow ribbon right below the bust. I'd never tried a peasant style bodice before but I am absolutely in love with it. I'd never tried an Evelyn Dress because I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but now I think Evelyn will be my next purchase! The Ellla derss has adjustable straps (which is awesome because even that can save some people from having to get a dress hemmed), a wide waistband, and a full, gathered skirt. The skirt is perfectly petticoat-able and accommodates a pretty large petticoat nicely. DID I MENTION THERE ARE HIDDEN, IN-SEAM POCKETS?!??!?!
This dress turned out to be everything I hoped for and more! The print is even more beautiful in person and it was so worth the wait! It also comes in two other colorways, blue + pink which are equally as adorable, I love how they were styled with gloves and I've officially been inspired to start lurking ruffled gloves on Etsy.
Here is my last random photo, I don't actually drink but I felt like I needed a prop, and why not throw some cucumbers in water and make yourself a fake girly drink to match your new dress?!?
Have y'all tried Ella yet? What's your favorite summer-inspired Pinup Girl Clothing Dress?!
WOWZA! You look amazing. That dress was made for you!
<3 you look amazing
Ugggggg this will be my first buy once I'm off my no-buy.
Thank you!
Thank you so much, sweet ladies! Brandi, I promise you will love it if you buy one! The pockets really sold it for me... I can fit my phone, lipstick and a compact in those! haha
And Ellie, my best friend is on a no-buy right now as well and she is saying the exact same thing haha. Totally a worthy introduction back into shopping! ; )
