I recently fell in love with the pinup era and have decided to enter in my first pinup contest. Its at a local vintage motor car expo.. Im nervous for many reasons... One.. Ive never been to one or know what to expect. Two.. I just turned 46 and am afraid Im going to be to old compared to the other contestants... Any advise? I think I am going to wear a remake of a vintage sailor romper... Very cute (or should I keep it more classic?)

A sailor-inspired romper sounds super cute! I was just in my first car show last month and the wardrobe ranged across the board; we had a sailor outfit, 2 girls in swing dresses, etc. Just do what you feel comfortable in!  I added a photo below of what the girls at our show wore to give you some ideas!

I would say to wear whatever you feel good in. I have been in a few pinup contests and I felt out of place at one, being the only person old enough to rent a car. But in my experience, the other women (or girls) are usually really sweet and supportive of each other. Sometimes they have a Q&A like you'll see on Miss America-type pageants (who is your favorite pinup, favorite classic car, favorite old movie, etc.) Sometimes they might have you do a little dance or shimmy or whatever. I think all the gals get a little nervous, but it's a fun thing to take part in at least once as long as no one takes it too seriously.

Thank you for the comments!!  You PUG are awesome... May sound funny but it almost sounds like a sisterhood here;)

I definitely agree that you should go with the vintage sailor romper if that's what your most comfortable with, and from what Stephanie Anne and Jamie have posted it really does sound like you're going to have an amazing time. The only other advice I can give is to be yourself, enjoy every minute of it and let us all know afterwards how it went!
