Unless you have been living under a rock you are aware that the star of the Andy Griffith died yesterday at the age of 86. He was the star of the Andy Griffith show which aired from 1960-1968. The show was based in a South Carolina town and featured the events of the local sheriff, Andy Taylor. The show takes us back to a time when you left your door unlocked and everything was so much simpler.
Helen Crump was Andy's serious girlfriend for quite a long time. A teacher by trade she always looked pulled together. On most days she was wearing a dress or a skirt and blouse. She loved to wear beautiful brooches such at the one in the above picture. One of my favorite episodes of the show is when Andy and Helen went on a picnic. She was so pulled together and inspires me to look good even when I am just having a picnic.
Thelma Lou was Barney's long time girl friend. I think she worked at an office but I am unsure of her profession. Thelma Lou was a very attrice woman that showcased the sixties style to the teeth. I especially loved to see her walk as she was almost always wearing heels.
Ellie Walker was a pioneer woman of her time. She was the lady "druggest" that took Mayberry by storm. A woman's right activist from the very beginning she once had the whole town in man vs woman. I thought by all account that Ellie was the prettiest of the women. She had the most vivacious smile.
Peg was a RN that Andy dated for a while. She came from a wealthy family so Andy was unsure of how to date her. Her style was simple yet classic. My favorite episode is when Peg and Andy went to fine restaurant and Andy did not want to eat escargot.
I loved watching this television series so much. Andy Griffith will be missed.
RIP Andy!
I love that show too. Andy Griffith will definitely be missed. Hollywood was a better place with that charming man. I have a CD of him singing hymns.
I like your post of the fashionable ladies.. but my favorite is missing... Aunt Bea! Her syles was a little more 40s than 60s than the younger ladies, as I imagine women her age would have dressed during that time. I loved how whenever she'd go into town she would be dressed up down to pearls, gloves, and a little hat. I tried to do my hair in a style like hers but I ended up looking more polygamist and less retro :/
Oh, Lissie I didn't forget Aunt Bea I was haven't terrible computer problems (it wasn't the computer as the computer operator). It took me ALL day to get the photos to line up like I wanted them. A little known fact Aunt Bea was a recluse after the show ended. Because of that fact she would have to call the local firefighters to help her after she would fall, etc. She left them money when she died.
Oh, and I love the episode when Andy trades his fishing pole for her dressing gown.
Miss Blaise
Oh I never would have guessed you were having computer probs the layout looks great! That's really interesting about Aunt Bea.. I always wondered what happened to her after the show, since I've never seen her in anything else. I'm glad someone else loves the show as much as me!
