Every month, Pinup Girl Clothing loves to release a new set of beauties we just have to have in our wardrobe. When I first saw the Lorelei dress at the opening of the Pinup Girl Boutique on Miss Stephanie Castro, I thought it was adorable and couldn't wait to see it production. It wasn't until photos of the new Lorelei dress, I really fell in love with the clean look and the retro feel. In fact, the dress had similarities I felt I had seen an old Hollywood movie and for a brief moment, I couldn't put my finger on it.
Then it hit me. The Lorelei dress.
Cheese and crackers! It resembled the dress Marilyn Monroe wore at the end of none other than, 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'. Yep, I totally felt like an idiot for not seeing it sooner considering that dress had been on my old Hollywood movies favorite list forever.
"Don't you know that a man being rich is like a girl being pretty? You wouldn't marry a girl just because she's pretty, but my goodness, doesn't it help?"
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) was directed by Howard Hawks and is about two showgirls, Dorothy (Jane Russell) and Lorelei (Marilyn Monroe), who take a ship to Paris, where Lorelei intends to marry millionaire Gus Esmond (Tommy Noonan). En route, the girls meet private detective Malone (Elliot Reid), hired by Esmond's father to make certain that Lorelei isn't just another gold-digger. William Travilla designed all costumes in the film and was close friends with Monroe.
The top piece of the original dress was actually a bolero, however, I think the dress Laura designed for Pinup Girl is close enough to make my Lorelei dress dream come true!
With its roots firmly planted in Old Hollywood glamour, the Lorelei is an incredibly flattering and sophisticated wiggle dress made in soft bengaline fabric that loves your curves. With beautiful seaming, cuffed three-quarter sleeves, and a collar that can be worn up or down, this dress can be accessorized for business or leisure with ease. The bodice is lined completely in stretch charmeuse for superior comfort and fit, the matching belt will cinch in your waistline, and the look is finished off with a smart back pleat.
I don't own this beauty yet, but I cannot wait until I do! Question is, what color do I get? Classic Marilyn blue? Or purple? The dress is available on the website NOW. . .and whispers say we will have it in the Boutique soon. ;)
Available in sizes XS -2X, in Dark plum, Navy and Grey with Black Dots! RUST COMING SOON!

I love the dress and I LOVE that gif!!
OMG!!! I love it!!! I would have to have the navy
This is amazing. The blue is classic, but the plum is a little something extra. Either would be amazing to own.
Blue!
Haha, I got the very same "Duh! Lorelei! Of course!" moment!
I couldn't deceide either between the blue and the grey, so I posted both photos on my facebook wall and got my friends and familly to vote. Blue won, so I bought a platinium blond wig and dressed up as Lorelei Lee for Halloween :)
