Hi!! This is going to be a bit all over the place, my apologies ahead of time.
I'm Ellie, and I've been falling in love with the PUG style a little at a time for the past three years. Last year, I tumbled all the way and I haven't looked back since!
First off, I'm 19. I have so much time to stock my PUG wardrobe and make it perfect! I'm really glad I discovered the PUG website when I did.
The first dress I bought was the DD L'Amour. WOW. I did NOT expect it to be so boobtastic, but I don't really mind! My fiance loves it (for obvious reasons) and I love it because I finally feel like I fit into a type of fashion. I've tried bohemian, glam rock, all types that are marketed to teens and young adults, but I never felt like I looked even remotely decent in them.
Now, I buy the L'Amour, and it makes me look amazing. Here's a recent pic of me in it:
Of course, that isn't the only dress I've fallen in love with!
My most recent purchase was the Dee Dee in Blue Floral. I feel beautiful in that dress - nothing and no one can tell me otherwise.
PUG style has definitely changed my outlook on several things for the better - including my self esteem. It's something I don't see myself falling away from at all.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone here and hopefully learning a lot about not just the style, but everything it means to be a PUG!
(Now, I know the collar's a bit funky, but I just need to iron it and all will be fine.)
Well Ellie, I am way older than nineteen... oh well that was decades ago. But it has taken me along time to figure out that retro/pinup/glamour gal fashions are really what suits me the most. So you are way ahead of the curve. And speaking of curves, you have the right kind of curves to really show off those PUG dresses. Welcome to the Sisterhood of PUG!
Thanks, both of you!
Aoife - I really appreciate that! I feel that other fashions don't celebrate my curves, which is something I've been struggling to do for a while, so PUG really is the only way to go!
you look great in both :), may I recommend a Doris top and Doris skirt for your next investments? I think both will really really flatter your figure
Thank you!
I've actually been eyeing the Doris top, but I'm actually a little wary of low cut tops. Doesn't seem like it with my purchase of the L'Amour, but still.
I'll take what you said into consideration, though!
If you are a little shy you can always pair it with a cami top, same as you would with a 'modern' low cut :), the look is great, really great for full figures, and the combination will look fab on you :), the Doris top works with pencils too and jeans, I've always found separates are a bit easier to work into 'casual lifestyle' as well :), you can check the swap/sell/trade forum usually they have Doris' of one type or another
Alright, I'll definitely look into at least the top on my next payday!
Hi Ellie Mae and I'm so happy that you're a part of Pinup Girl Style now! Women like you always make our community all the better and stronger :)
If you're looking to consider new pinup dresses I would HIGHLY recommend any of the Netti's, they have such a beautiful retro cut and are incredible figure flatterers.
By the way, you are absolutely rocking that Dee Dee and L'Amour :)
