A couple Friday's ago I had the honor of being a demo hair model at Pinup Girl's Boutique grand opening!
It was quite the affair, complete with pink carpet, bar, live makeup and hair demos, and a live performance by Nick Waterhouse and The Tarots!
The totally fabulous and amazing Tara Alexander was my stylist and was inspired by my vintage cocktail dress to do a 60s half up/down do.
This was easily the most fun night I've had in a long time, and I'm so happy to have spent it with some fabulous ladies! It was great to see so many women dressed to the nines, and coming in all shapes and sizes.
But, enough of my yapping, here's some photos!
The store is beautiful! The entry displays are amazing, and the chandelier adds just the right amount of glamour!
Tara and I hamming it up before we start the demo! My dress is a vintage Anna Dena cocktail dress from the late 1950s/early1960s. Until Friday, it had been languishing in my closet for 2 years, yearning for a time that it could finally come out! My shoes are Jason Wu x Melissa Lady Dragon pumpsin pink. I received a ton of compliments all night!
Now, onto the demo! Your eyes do not deceive you, these are bangs! As you might recall from a previous post, these are my amazing clip in Bettie Bangs. So for the occasion, we decided to bust them back out!
Next order of business, pincurling my hair. She curled my entire head and had it set for about 10 minutes. Naturally, I had a trusty gin and tonic in hand while I waited.
Next, it's time to tease the living crap out of my hair. Tara has never needed to use a rat on me, because I have crazy amounts of hair. She smooths it out to start forming the final hairstyle.
Voila! Here is final product of Tara's amazing handiwork! She never ceases to amaze me with her talent, and everyone else loved it too! I finally felt like my entire look was complete, so we had to start taking pictures!
Around 9 PM Nick Waterhouse and The Tarots got on stage and did their thing. It was an awesomely lo-fi and raw set, and it was perfect! Everyone was dancing and it was so much fun. Also, I ran into him after his set and snapped a photo with him! Did I mention that he's super dreamy?
I had to snap a photo of a lovely attendee who was wearing The Webster at Target deco sheath dress. I think she accessorized it perfectly...it was so perfectly retro! And lastly, of course I had to get a photo with a huge inspiration of mine, Micheline Pitt. I felt super awesome because I was the last bride she has done makeup for.
I can't sufficiently express how totally amazing of a night it was. Who can complain about fashion, cocktails, music, and beautiful ladies everywhere?
And also, if you're ever in the area, don't skip visiting their gorgeous boutique at 3606 Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, California.
