So, this is another adventure from our personal blog, Junebugs and Georgia Peaches but if you ever wondered what it'd be like to run from stranger danger in a full skirt or full skirt-ed dress... here's a story!
A couple of weekends ago, I drove to Augusta, GA from Nashville, TN to visit my best friend and, amount other things, announce a pinup contest! We were especially excited because it seemed like a lot of fun, we're both extroverts and it was something out of the norm for us... why not!
To make a long story short, our chaotic morning included insane humidity and me leaving my petticoat in Nashville (this totally wouldn't have been a crisis for other people, but it was for me haha. We rented one from one of our favorite vintage shops, Vintage Ooolle). Upon stopping to snap a couple photos for the blog in downtown Augusta, a man started rapidly approaching us shouting "where are you purses?!" at us (btw, they were in the locked car) and literally running after us... which was truly horrifying. We then proceeded to run, in full skirts and heels, and he cut us off around a corner... but not before we luckily made it into the car. I was surprised neither of us tripped and fell.. though we probably would've laughed about it later.
After our morning run (ha) we appeared at the event to be told "the turnout was bad and they'd proceeded on with the announcements." We can definitely sympathize, but do wish we'd been contacted (the announcements were done 3 hours prior to our arrival). Since we were already dressed up with nowhere to go (it was like some bad high school prom movie), we decided we'd head to one of our favorite places, Sno-Cap Drive In.

While we dress very similarly day-to-day, we've never walked around matching before. We did it for the event so people could pick us out of the crowd a little better (we sort of felt like pinup versions of the twins from The Shining), but if it HAD to be something, we're glad it was our favorite Harlequin Print Jenny items from Pinup Girl Clothing. It was PRIDE weekend in Augusta as well, so everyone in the downtown area was dressed up and we surprisingly (sort of) blended in. We got lots of compliments and questions about our attire (including but not limited to "Are you in a play?, Are you going to a party?, and Do you dress like that ALL the time?". After a couple of cherry limeade's and a visit to a favorite spot, we got over the event thing pretty quickly.
Meep! Glad you made it back to your car safely. Super adorable matching outfits btw!
