Yup, there's only 186 more days to go until Viva Las Vegas and I couldn't be more excited. Now that Fan Expo's out of the way I can start saving my penny's for the big event. I've never been to Vegas before, my husband tells me it really is something you have to take in for yourself and judging from everything else I've ever read it really is. :)
All of the videos on YouTube and pictures online from everything from the bands performing to the fashion shows, the burlesque shows, the car show and the pool party really have helped paint a picture of what's in store and what you really have to plan for if you plan on getting the most out of the weekend. Also I can't forget to mention how helpful Billie May's post about Tips for Getting the Most Out of Viva Las Vegas is, heck that's practically a ready made checklist!
Hopefully a friend of my husband's and mine will be able to make it too, it's going to be one of those trips where the more the merrier it will be I think. It won't be easy saving up for the trip, but what trip worth taking ever is, right?
When this site was first launched I thought that it would be the perfect way to connect with other PUG fans that were going to Viva, and I am really excited about that still. Maybe I'll be able to connect with some other Cannuck girls heading down there too, I'm sure there must be a few out there ;)
Lastly, I'm entertaining the idea of trying to organize a get together of the Captain America Dancing Girls (formerly known as the Captain America USO Girls). The girls you see are a group of Cosplayers who are fans of the Captain America: The First Avenger movie, in particular the costumes worn by the backup dancers to Captain Rogers while touring America selling war bonds. Here's an example to the right worn by myself, and as you can see it is just an AMAZING costume! :)
The Facebook group exists to help teach new members how to make a costume of their own and to organize get togethers at conventions for pictures. Here'sa video of their award winning masquerade performance this year at Dragon*Con.
Now I know that Viva Las Vegas isn't a cosplay get together per se, but the dancing girl costumes are definitely era appropriate. There were eight of us at Fan Expo in Toronto this past year, and I'm sure that there are even more in driving distance from Las Vegas, so hopefully with a little luck we'll all see some golden age beauties dressed in red white and blue at some point over the weekend.
Well that's it for now, if I have any other ideas or plans for Viva Las Vegas I'll you all know. Until then stay out of trouble everyone!
Take care :)
