VLV 16 was our first and will not be our last - our rooms are already booked for next year. :-) I can't even begin to describe the phenomenon that is Viva Las Vegas. It is literally like being emerged into another culture. The music, the cars, the hair, the clothes, the everything. We got home last night at 2 am and I could not sleep - every time I closed by eyes I dreamt of Viva. It's like a rockabilly hangover!
VLV Favorites:
* Charles Phoenix Slide Show - I was crying laughing.
* Car Show - this goes without saying!
* Fashion Porn - seriously - I am sorry if I was staring at you - I can't help it.
* Watching people dance - so inspired.
* Listening to live music - Si Cranstoun was aweeeesommmeeee.
* Seeing my favorite pin ups in person - Doris, Michelline, Laura, Ashleeta, Ruby - they all are just as lovely in person.
Things to do different next year:
* Bring safety pins (lol)
* Bring a small pair of scissors (lol) - I found the hotel mending kit as we were leaving the room. Doh!
* Sleep more during the day - awake more during the night. It was difficult for us to go "nocturnal". I'll need to bring some Nyquil or Advil PM next year to MAKE me sleep during the day.
* Get better at hair!! Hair is not my strong suit - I can make do but not like some of the girls. Drooool.
* Work on my vintage wardrobe. The actual vintage clothes at Viva are AMAZING. It's difficult for me to find vintage that fits me and I can afford (sorry, but I can't justify paying $300 for a vintage dress).
* Be ready to dance - the dancers are SO GOOD that hubby and I were too shy to dance. But that will change by next year.
PUG got me through Viva - I got alot of compliments on my outfits. I will leave you with a few pics of my Viva PUG wardrobe.
Vamp top w/ Bettie Page skirt

Heidi dress for the car show
Saturday outfit #2 - Vamp top and Jenny tiki skirt I picked up at the PUG booth!
Looking forward to hearing about other's VLV experiences. We'll be back next year!! Mwah!
Amber thanks so much for posting about your Viva experiences. I am so jealous that you got to go. you look great. As for vintage clothing In the last few weeks I have bought three vintage dresses. I am usually about a size 14. Bigger sizes are not common but they are out there. And none of them cost me more than twenty dollars! I search thrift stores and antique stores. And I try to be selective about what I buy and how much I spend.
Now about you, I like the last two looks the best. The Heidi looks so good with your coloring. And you totally rock that top and skirt!
I loved your Viva recap Amber, you really are one deadly dame ;)
I SO wish that I ran into you down there, maybe next year. My hubby and I already booked our rooms too :) Also I loved your list of things to do better for next year, a couple of those are on my list for sure.
My favourite outfit is DEFINITELY the black Vamp top with the black skirt. I can't wait to see those candid pics!
Hi Amber , I really loved reading this ! Maybe ..some day... ( when we win the lottery or we recieve a huge heritage from a lost and unknown family member which was billionaire and we are the only heirs ;-) - Never give up dreaming !! ) we'll got to VLV !! ( We live in Belgium and the flights only are already expensive ) Ouch - the hair...... I have the same problem ! I've been watching tutorials for hours, have books ..but when I try to do it , the most of the times after a while brushes are flying through the air, bobby pins all over the flour , flowers, bandana's, snoods the whole shebang lies around everywhere . And my hair ??? Euh..... like I was electrocuted . My hair is very straight and in an effort to be get the look that seems so easy with the tutorial and in an effort to be there with a curling iron guidelines and a curling iron and .... wat do I get ? Blisters and some strange things who do not seem to curl . Victory rolls... OMG !! I would urgently need to find a course for dummies - and a teacher with a lot of patience ;-) 300 $ for one dress ??? I have the sweetest hubby in the world but he would go crazy ! And you need more than one dress... a nono for ou're bankaccount ! I'm happy with everything I have from Glamrockclothing.... The owners went to VLV too , I could follow there trip on facebook every day with there pictures . ( sigh.....) But I was super incredible happy and couldn't believe it at first - I've entered a competition for their two year anniversary.... And I won the first price ! I saw the dress in pictures of VLV .... and now I have it in my wardrobe ( and it's almost impossible, but it looks even more beautiful when I wear it !! )
But you look really georgous and I love you're accessories..wow !
I very enjoyed your report and pictures.... like you gave me a real tour !
