When I stumbled upon Pinup Girl Clothing, I immediately fell in love with the dresses. I ogled at them and lusted after each one, only to realize that graduate school is not an environment for pretty dresses. "Aarghh!" I yelled in frustration. However, I quickly noticed the separates, and realized I could rock my PUG look after all! In fact, separates might be more fun, because you can mix-and-match all of your pieces to create a unique style appropriate for whatever situation you find yourself in.
One of my favorite pieces is the Psychobilly Halter Top from Deadly Dames in Black with White Polka Dots. Micheline Pitt got this halter top right and successfully makes me feel like a sex kitten (mee-oww!).
Sizing and fit:
PUG's website is incredibly helpful for deciding which size to order. The size charts are very accurate, but if you're unsure, the Live Chat option is always helpful.
My personal measurements are 37"-27"-37", as of this morning. I fluctuate between this and 36"-26"-36", depending on the, um, time of the month. The sizing chart puts me at a Medium for my bust, but a Small for my waist and hips. I chose the Small, because a little cleavage never hurts a gal ;-) The Small fits me perfectly any time of the month!
In general, it's probably best to go with your waist measurement for this top, unless you have a very big difference between your bust and waist. Also, plus-size ladies don't have to fret: this top is available in plus-size!
Features:
I had never seen an upside-down zipper until I bought clothes from PUG, but now I am obsessed! The upside-down zipper is amazing because it has a corset-like effect to suck you in. Don't worry, it's not painful though! This feature is familiar to those who own the Doris Top (hot!) and Vamp Top (sexy!).
As you can see in the picture, there's a bit of fabric that you can hold onto, and then you just pull the zipper straight down.
Another great feature is the removable Skully Brooch (now available separate!). This adds versatility to the top. Apparently, there are times when a cute little skull is not appropriate (boo, work!). You'll still look like a vixen if you take it off though. You could wear this top with a black cardigan and a pencil skirt (can't wait for the Kinky Ruffles skirt!) to look polished and sexy.
The actual halter part of the top does not have ties or buttons, you just slide it overhead. There are pluses and minuses to this. I think it looks cleaner and more sophisticated lacking adjustable features, and I am lucky enough that the length of the halter is perfect. Ties are often annoying and pull on my neck in an uncomfortable way.
However, being unable to adjust this top could be a turn-off for some ladies. If the halter part is too big, I suggest a padded push-up bra. If the halter is too small, sizing up would probably be best to avoid painful pulling on your neck. Looking dangerously sexy should not compromise your comfort!
The length of this top is just right. It's long enough to wear tucked out over jeans, but not too long that it looks weird tucked in. I love this top tucked into Deadly Dames capris with a belt. Hello, curves!
The material is smooth and feels great against the skin. It looks luxurious and expensive in person, but not quite as luminescent as in appears in the photos on the site.
Overall, this top is fantastic. It plays up your curves while smoothing out the ones you don't want. It's playful, yet sexy, and can be dressed up or down. When you walk down the street in this one, all the men are intrigued, left wondering, "Who is that deadly dame?"

Thanks! They're the DD capris, I should've specifically mentioned that. They smooth everything out ;-)
Thanks girl! Ugh, nothing worse than a halter pulling down on your neck really hard or tickling you...
