Yes, I know this sounds strange but I used Tarte face primer and it's suppose to be all natural and good and all that junk but for some reason it makes me break out bad with acne...this happens with a lot of all natural products, even lotions...

Well anyway, back to the question, Anybody find a good face primer that's also modest in price? (30$ or less for a decent sized tube)

I personally really like Laura Geller Spackle and Bare Escentuals Prime Time. If you can find either of them at the mall test them out. The textures are totally different. Spackle absorbs more into your face and feels more like a moisturizer once it's all dry, but the Prime Time has more of a "there's going to be a barrier between your face and make up" feel, if you get what I mean? I like the Prime Time for when I wear full coverage stuff, my logic is it'll keep the make up out of my pores, even though in all reality it's probably just as bad. Haha but they both keep my face nice and smooth and do improve the long wear of my foundations/powders. :)

I have really good skin, I never break out even if I occasionally sleep in my make up. However, if I use foundation primer on a daily basis I will break out a bit. A lot of primers are silicone based so I suspect that your skin has trouble breathing. I use Givenchy Mister Mat on special occasions it's about $30 and always wash my face as soon as I am home and in for the night. For daily wear I use Origin's a perfect world age defense skin guardian with white tea. It is actually an age preventive serum but the texture is very much like that of a foundation primer. I love it and have not had any issues with it and my skin looks great. However it is a bit steeper in price at about $52 for a little under 2 ounces but it is a great product. If you visit a local Origin's they will give you a week sample to try before you commit to purchase.

I've used my mom's MAC primer, and I really liked it. It made my face feel soft and silky, which helped makeup go on smoothly and evenly. I'm not sure at the moment which specific primer she has, but it is a MAC one. I think it might just be the "Prep + Prime" one, which is $28.

My favorites are Makeup Forever HD Primer and Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer

Thanks for the feed back guys!!! I'm going to see if I can find some samples of these primers! :) I use Makeup forever foundation so maybe I can try that one!

Makeup forver and Laura Mercier have great primers. I have used both and they last forver. Lauras tube is actually a really decent size and has lasted me over a year already. =) I have to cover my pink cheecks and these both help out and my makeup doesnt melt off by days end. =) We carry them at Sephora!!!

I read on a blog once about using Monistat Chafing Gel - its for athletes to stop chafing but someone figured out it has basically the same ingredients as a face primer!  Its $7 and comes in a pretty large tube.  I use it and it works just as well as other way more expensive face primers I've used and I haven't noticed it made me break out.

I use Smashbox or Benefit. I like both really well. If you go to Sephora you can get samples and try them out.

I have a general suggestion here. There is a cosmetics expert named Paula Begoun. She is the head of her own cosmetics company, puts out books and has a site called The Cosmetic Cop:

She also has a biweekly podcast which I listen to regularly and have learned so much from. Here is the link on her page:

Or you can search on iTunes for Be Beautifully Informed. The podcasts are free and I think they are invaluable. The only downside is the technical quality of the podcasts kind of sucks. But I guarantee you will learn a lot.

I use either Bare Escentuals Prime Time and Smashbox Photo Finish. I prefer Smashbox, very silky finish.

One that is my favorite is Avon's Magix.

So the first picture is natural brows. The second is with the left brow done. What I'm asking you ladies is some critic on it as I've never actually done my brows before I don't want to look silly. Continue
