Hi there,
I've been looking around for good quality pin-up/50's/rockabilly style fabrics online, preferably from the UK as postage for fabric can be quite expensive. Does anyone have any experience of good online retailers based in blighty? I do love to sew but my fabric stash is looking pretty dismall, any help would certainly be appreciated!!

Hi,
I sell fabric by the yard online on eBay and Etsy. I carry mostly pin-up/50's/rockabilly style fabrics and I can also order fabric directly from manufacturers such as Alexander Henry, Robert Kaufman and Michael Miller. I combine shipping prices and only charge a $1.25 handling fee for orders to the UK. I ship to buyers from the UK a few times a week.
If you don't want to purchase through eBay or Etsy I can send you a PayPal invoice directly. You have buyer protection through this service.
Here is a link to what I have available here on eBay
Today I will be getting my order in of Tattoo fabric on black background and tan background, geisha girl, and skulls and roses. I will list them promptly as soon as I get the package.
Kind regards,

If you follow any blogs, there's a really good sewing blog written by a woman named Zoe who lives in Brighton. She's into the retro/rockabilly scene and sews as much of her wardrobe as possible - most of it with a 50's look. She can probably point you in the right direction for local shops.

Are you looking for print cotton? Depending on what your sewing , fabric choice can have a real effect on your finished project just like what you use as your underlining .

If you mean the Blonde Bombshell pattern by Folkwear Patterns, you need to be sure that your fabric isn't too stiff or the skirt won't hang properly - some cottons would work (poplin, sheeting) but many quilting cottons are too stiff for the skirt unless you're going to be wearing it with a petticoat or crinoline. I made this dress for my senior prom back in 1990 and it's a really great pattern, though it isn't possible to wear a bra with it without some alteration. Good luck!
In my experience those things are useless if you're larger than a c-cup. If you're not, I'd imagine they'd work fine.
