Hey ladies, I sold a darling gal on here a couple of PUG dresses about a month ago. Shipped them international mail first class as I normally do and they have not arrived...

Post office has been entirely unhelpful, saying that my label number only provides tracking up until the packages leave the states and there is nothing they can do.

They were sent from California, USA to Australia. Have you ladies who ship internationally occasionally encountered very long delivery times? Have you had packages lost in the mail?

I'm quite upset as these are dresses I never wanted to sell in the first place..

Advice? Helpful tips?

thanks

ps - I'm obviously not going to let my purchaser be out funds indefinitely, I'm just hoping for some insight.

I haven't personally experienced this, thank goodness, but December is an INSANE shipping month because of the holidays.  I ordered some stuff FROM Australia and it took a really long time to come to the US.  My guess is that international customs are berated with packages and are probably just super slow in getting them out.  My fingers are crossed for you that your buyer gets them.  I'd give it a couple more weeks.

Hi Shannon, that is unfortunate - I hope they turn up. I live in NZ, and I know that sometimes things can take an inordinate amount of time, especially at this time of year. In fact, I am still waiting on a dress that was sent to me from Australia in mid December. But generally first class from the US is ok, I've never had anything go missing thus far (knock on wood!). Good luck, fingers crossed they turn up!
I live in Australia and regularly receive parcels from the States. Lately the delivery times have been much longer than usual - it normally takes 10-14 days, but during December it was closer to a month. It seems to me Australia Post might still be recovering from a backlog of parcels over Christmas. Hope this helps.
Hi Shannon I have shipped to Australia. I actually ship often as I run a small business and often ship first class. Unfortunately I have run into this problem often with Australia post. I actually only ship to the UK and Canada now. Australia I have a 50/50 Chance of arrival. So due to many packages being lost I don't ship there.I ask my international buyer to wait as it can take up to 4 weeks Sometimes. But that happened only twice.

When I do ship to Australia,I ship EMS because you can track and insure I believe. If not you can do UPS but they cost an arm and a leg.

The US postal service can only track in the US.And you cannot insure international postage with the US post,I believe there are few exceptions to that.

If it helps, I live in Australia and was waiting on a billion packages around xmas, one of which was from New Zealand and that took 4 weeks to arrive! This time of year is very unpredictable with shipping!

Hi! I live in Rissia and it takes 30-50 days to recieve parcel. Once my parcel without tracking outside US was stolen, I made many requests and so on, but they didnt return any money. Cirtainly, I didnt take any money from the girl, who shipped it)
