Hey, Christy!
The dress has a little stretch, and as you wear it, it stretches to your body. It is heavy cotton material, which allows for this stretch; however, it won't get baggy and misshapen like light cotton dresses. I have a 28" waist and there was some room to give the first time I put it on.
