Hi ladies, This question has troubled me for quite some time, and I thought I'd post it here (I apologise if someone's already asked this question). I've been looking for a long-wearing, moisturising red lipstick for a very long time and haven't had much luck in finding one. Would appreciate it if you could suggest any particular brands (as well as specific names) that you ladies may have had some luck with.

Thanks in advance! x

Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color in Pirate is my all time favorite (great for those with pale skin) $34 but it lasts for a long time :)

Narcotic Rouge from Tom Rogue is probably one of the sexiest one's I've tried but it's a little on the pricey side at $48

The Covergirl flipstick in Cheeky is nice and only $9 , plus it has a toned down option in case you want to dial the look back a little :)

I'm a fan of MAC's Russian Red, particularly with their Cherry or Brick lip liner as a base. But the gloss doesn't perform as well on its own, in my experience.

I picked up the Bomber Betty "Pin-up Palette" at Viva last weekend, and I have to say that I have a new favorite lipstick!  The palette comes with pans of "Hot" and "Cherry Bomb" lipsticks...before the weekend was up I returned to their booth and bought a full size of the "Hot" as it is such a great daytime color, and lasts decently long (for a red) without drying my lips like my (former) favorite MAC ones did.  The "Cherry Bomb" color is a little bit deeper and I've been using it for more of an evening color - but the two blend nicely as well :)

They are all available off of their site: www.bomberbetty.com

I am in love with Besame's Red Hot Red. It's heavily pigmented, so it stays on forever. But you will need to use a lipliner with it, because it has a tendency to bleed.

For a cheaper drug store vintage red I love Revlon's Really Red but you do have to use a touch of lip balm under it. It only costs about $6. But if cost isn't an issue I agree with Allie on MAC's Russian Red, I've worn it out and about often and had no problems with it drying too much or coming off.

I'm a big fan of MAC lipsticks. My bright red favorites are "Russian Red" and "Ronnie Red". They are both "matte" and not very moisturising but they are extremely long-wearing and so pretty! :)

I also love mac lipsticks...I love mac red I also am a hufe fan of revlon red
I use NYC liner in auburn with Rimmel Kate moss 01 the best

When I went to Micheline's DVD launch party I met the most beautiful and friendly blonde woman. She told me her name. But I have totally forgotten it. Maybe she will contact me at some point. Anyway I totally loved her lipcolor. She told me that it was by a firm called Bite and was sold at Sephora. Oh and she told me that the color she was wearing was pomegranate. So what she was wearing was the High Pigment Matte Pencil. Well I just had to buy that for myself. So this week I went to a nearby Sephora and I bought it. OMFG! I absolutely love the color. I can't speak to the wearability. I only had it on for a few hours. But I can tell you that it is absolutely stunning!

I'm a MAC girl too, my favourites being Russian Red and Ruby Woo. They both last forever and are a lovely matte finish. Russian Red is fairly creamy, but doesn't quite have the same staying power on me. Ruby Woo can be a little drying, but easily lasts me all day at work, with a quick touch up at lunch. Using lip liner also helps lipstick to last longer in general. :)

I've also got the MAC Pro Longwear in red which comes with a red 'paint' on one side that dries completely, and a gloss on the other. It lasts really well UNTIL you eat anything oily or greasy and then it kind of melts... ahahaha!

I'm really keen to sample Tom Ford's lipsticks too 'cause I've heard good things, but there isn't a counter near where I live! Sadface,

For long time wear I love NARS Red Lizard but it is very matte. I currently am using Hourglass femme rouge icon but it requires a liner as well as it does tend to bleed. Very moisturizing though and a brilliant red.

I am dressing up for Cinco de Mayo and was also on the hunt for a red lipstick. A fellow PUGster recommended MAC Ruby Woo. I went to the MAC counter and tried it on but because it is a matte color it is very dry. I did a few searches online and saw that a makeup artist had recommended Sephora's red creme lip stain. She said it stays on for a few hours and won't come off after you eat so I went to Sephora and tried it on. It's great and only costs $12, "01-Always Red." Has great staying power but it isn't moisturizing, so I put lip balm under mine. I took my cousin to Sephora and she liked the Kat Von D $19 lip stain  in "Brick Red" because she is very tan and this color looked better on her. She also got the Sephora waterproof lip liner in "Scarlet"  $12, which is on my wish list now.
