I haven't had much time to watch it, so I have only seen the first look, but I have already learnt heaps.. I definitely recommend
I have not watched the whole thing yet, but have sat through several of the "looks." Let me preface my review by saying, I don't believe I am her target audience. I'm a bit of a math nerd with a 9-5 desk job. I've worn "business casual" to work and worn my hair straight and flat and worn very little or no makeup for over a decade. I found Pinup Girl Clothing only this year and have been on a spending spree. I love the clothes, I love the look, but I am still a math nerd with a 9-5.
Switching out my wardrobe was fairly easy. I just start wearing different clothes. I wanted to continue to improve my appearance with some help in the hair and makeup departments, so I bought this DVD. Micheline is very good at what she does and I did enjoy watching her work. However, I fell like I was just watching a professional at work. I really found very little I can use on a day-to-day basis. She is spending 1-2 hours on each look. I just don't have that kind of time every morning. Even for special occasions, I don't have her skills or talent for reproducing these looks on myself. I would probably just pay a professional if I really needed to look that good.
I think if you are already beyond "beginner" in makeup/hair, or if you are a model/actress and need to look that good on more than just special occasions, this DVD is probably for you. For us regular women who just want to enhance/improve ourselves and try to look as good as our clothes, I just don't feel like this DVD is all that helpful.
(Note: I still haven't watched any more of the DVD) I am going to have to disagree with you though. I too work at a desk all day & am also lazy so that doesn't help with hair & make-up. But I do think there are little tricks & tips that will work for everyone. Like I now use 2 diff shades of foundation to get the contours, I also now just paint my foundation on & then buffer it in & I actually think this saves time when applying make-up as I don't have to be all pedantic about the application I can just buffer away & it comes out nice & even.
So you're obviously more than just a beginner, which was my point exactly. I don't even own one shade of foundation, let alone two different ones. I wouldn't even know where to start as far as purchasing one. I've never done anymore makeup than maybe a tinted moisturizer and some mascara. Micheline is literally using and owns hundreds of different products. What I really want to know is how to put on pinup makeup/hair in 20 minutes or less. Or how to look fabulous on a budget. This DVD does not help with either of those.
Fair enough. I do wear make-up to work every day so I see your point.
For fab hair in 20min its depends on your hair length but I could recommend faux kitten ears (theres a thread on here some-where) or the simple ponytail with a bit a poof at the front. I actually just cut my super long hair off cause it was getting to hard (taking to long) to make it look any good, now i just stick some rollers in while i have brekky & i'm good to go.
And if you don't wear a lot of make-up, just some black eyeliner & mascara can make a world of difference! there are heaps of you tube clips out there for eyeliner application. Well I don't know if I've helped you at all (your probably just thing 'sod off' haha)....
Thanks, Alyssa. I think I will check out some tips on YouTube.
As far as the DVD though, I finished watching the whole thing and she definitely states more than once that she is applying for photo shoots and not for everyday wear. So just to let everyone else know who hasn't already purchased, if you're looking for photo-shoot quality, this DVD is entirely devoted to you.
If you're looking for everyday pinup looks, you can probably pick up a few intermediate/advanced techniques, but this DVD is NOT showing you how to apply makeup for everyday wear. Unless - does anyone actually wear fake eyelashes for everyday wear? I really like the way they look, but if I don't have all that other makeup on, would fake eyelashes be too much?
