I'm really considering getting a corset to really accentuate my curves. I know there are some benefits and some risks. I've heard it decreases appetite, which is good for dieting, and that it keeps a straight posture. But then I've also heard that you can't go too long (a matter of days) without one once you've started wearing it.
Has anyone had any first-hand experience with a corset/waist cincher, or have do you know anyone with one, and how do they like it?

Ah, I am a little larger, and do have a big bust and ~relatively~ small waist. I'm not sure if I'd like an extreme hourglass shape, so I thank you for that advice, I'll have to find a boutique and see if I'd like it. Thanks again x
I am a similar size and shape and know just what you mean! Can you tell me where you get the plastic boned corsets?
I was wondering the same thing.
So many good posts on here that helped me a lot. Go nuts x
Oh, drycleaning you say? Thank you because I hadn't thought about that side of things x
I wore corsets before also.
I find that is you're going to start waist training its good to ask for help and advice and also do your own research.
It helped me a lot because when it came to my appetite because I love love love to eat big quantities and with the corset I sort of became a grazer. Eating small (healthy) snacks throughout the day.
I have heard and read a lot about of its horrible for your organs but I think if you do it the right way you can diminish the damage so to speak. My waist was 37 and now its a 33 ( note: I eat healthy now and excersize 4x a week) . I started by cinching my waist to 36 and then about a month later 35 and then I went to 33 and I stopped there for now. In about 9 months a lost 30 pds.
About the organ comment I made, When you waist train its not something done overnight, it takes a while and I even read in some cases 2 years. In a pregnant women all the organs begin to squish with a quickness.
When people tell me its bad for my organs I tell them , in my own personal experince, pregnancy was worse because I got sooo big that it was beyond uncomfortable to breath. I never had that experience with my corsets.
Hope I helped a bit. :)
I really really want to start waist training (as in- not just cinch in while wearing one but shrink on a more permanent scale) but I wish someone who has already trained could recommend a corset.. one that will withstand daily wear. Whenever I search the internet I get mixed information- never buy off the rack/ off the rack will work fine/ you must order a custom made one / etc. etc. I don't want to make a upwards of $200 purchase if it's going to be bunk :( but the custom ones are way out of my price range. Has anyone used the trainer from Waisted Couture? I know Miss Micheline recommended that brand on her FB page. Any advice would be most welcomed!
I am loving this post. Loads of good advice.

I forgot to mention Timeless Trends has a lifetime guarantee on there corsets. Plus they ship fast! I got mine a couple days after I ordered it.
Here is Part 1 of Lucy's videos about starting out and setting safe goals.
I would also definitely check out her breaking in your corset video before hand.
So important! The temptation when you get your first corset is to see how tight you can go right away. This is not only bad for your body it's also bad for the life of your corset.
