So anyone can easily get all gussied up in their best PUG threads and their face and hair all done up. But what about casual looks. This I have a hard time with. Does anyone have pics or tips for day to day vintage. Like for hair, makeup, accessories, and especially outfits. Can't exactly afford to buy all my separates from PUG, Bettie Page, etc and the stores at the mall these days aren't exactly selling mass amounts of vintage style clothing. So what do you do?

I wear alot of skirts for everyday use, cheaper then a dress and much more causal.  And there are so many fun ones from pencil styles to swing from cheaper pinup brands like missfortune, collectif etc. And i pair them with simple cheap tops from any lowcost fashion chain, like H&M. To that i wear ballerinas or low wedges. During winter i add a pretty cardigan and thicker stockings for warmth.

For hair i do the fast and simple kitten ears or leave my hair out, just tieing a bandana or chiffon scarf around it with a pretty bow at the top.

Makeup is really were i do not compromise, there i have almost the same routine on a weekday as going out.

I must say that im intrigued to see how other manage their glamorous pinupstyle from day to day :)

That is what i wore today as an example

Cute! Like that skirt.

Thank you :)

Yay! With the help of all u ladies wonderful advice I was able to pull off a very fast and cute day look to wear to work today (casual Friday). And wow I'm already getting all kinds of compliments. Im wearing white flats, dark wash skinny jeans, a navy with white pin dot shirt, a white cardigan, Pearl earrings with a white and yellow Hawaiian like flower placed in my curls. As for makeup (which I unfortunately don't usually wear to work to often) I just threw on some powder, a little blush and some red tinted lip balm (No time to doll up the eyes :( ). Simple but I still feel very cute and Retro. Thanks for sharing all your great tips. I'm really glad I started this discussion! :)

Sounds gorgeous :) glad we could help :)

i'm glad you started it, too! it's been fun. and useful!

For casual looks, it's all about the details for me. Accessories with a vintage feel, dark fitted jeans, 3/4 sleeve cardigans and a cute pair of shoes (I love flats for casual shoes!).
If you know what to look for, you can find some good pieces at your local mall for cheap.

For hair, I usually just toss my hair in a bun, clip in a flower and straighten my bangs. I like to keep my makeup light for day-  tinted moisturizer, a little concealer, winged eyeliner and lip balm (or a dusty pink colored lipstick).

Thank you for starting this thread! It's been fun to read everyone's tips and tricks for everyday looks.

For super casual stuff, like working at summer camp, I usually do cuffed jeans and a tank. Try to look for ones with sweetheart necklines, last time I checked Charlotte Russe had some. The other thing I recommend is learning how to sew. It's super easy to make a ton of great sundresses once you find a pattern. There are a lot of awesome printed cottons out there. Be sure to stay away from quilting cotton though, it tends to be thicker and stiffer than the regular stuff.

More ideas :) Button down shirt with rolled sleeves, high waist trousers/jeans, boat neck shirts, snoods, wingtips shoes, and playsuits. If you also notice, in vintage photos, women didn't have on tons of makeup...it was pretty simple during the day.
