Oh, ooh! Hi there, I'm Bird. I have a thought, regarding this lovely idea & my absolute favorite mascara. I think it might really add to this look— particularly now that the love of & the color-popping powers of purple have been mentioned! I think the below might really give extra kick to this fun look, especially as purple brings out nearly all eye colors; green, hazel, brown, some blues.
So: I actually have very long, very thick lashes which curl up naturally— but hey, I'm allowed to love them & be humble, too! After all, their feathery dark curl is paired w/ dark, defined brows- which I've grown to love & accept & just lightly trim- but many vintage fans & femmes might feel they HAD to trim them into little slices! My lashes curl up & touch the arch of my brows, especially when the lighter tips are darkened/extended by a good mascara. I like to amp them up as much as possible, so that they do indeed have that faux glamour look! Getting to the product that's my point: I always do research bordering on the obsessive, when choosing a make-up staple, or when changing to a new one, as I did with Yves St. Laurent.
I use YSL's Volume Effet Faux Cils: Luxurious, in Fascinating Violet, which is labeled "deep purple". The French actually translates pretty directly to False Lash Effect, & much of the point is indeed VOLUME, baby! (I've used their blue as well, & have one of their black(s) among my choices for clients to use in photos; but with respect to my taste & this post, I find the purple far superior!) Note: My lashes are close to black, despite my hair being (well- naturally!) a medium reddish-brown. With that in mind: The blue does brighten, but was a bit obvious when layered; the purple blends in much better, while still adding some extra pop-ZOW! to my green eyes. It stays subtle enough, even when applied in rich, thick strokes. People generally only notice it's the mascara; as opposed to part of an overall look; when VERY close to me, and if they know a lot about make-up. I know YSL is not cheap, ooooh, trust me, I know! But it stays on like crazy & each wand lasts for quite some time. So long as you have a decent lash brush, it layers brilliantly; & the deep purple blends in well with everything I've thrown at it, from bright trios of color to sparkly neutrals. I also think the price is worth it, as it's SO lovely that when you're in a rush or feeling low-key, a few strokes of this & some nice lip-gloss feel like A Look in & of themselves.
So— I wanted to be clear about everything, but I'll stop sounding like a sneaky ad exec now! I'm not, that I can assure you— but the YSL has been everything I was repeatedly told it would be, online & otherwise, for 3-4 years now. (It was my first YSL product, actually; I generally use Urban Decay, w/ side orders of Make Up Forever, Lush's B Never line, & a few fabulous, more affordable indie brands like Fyrinnae!)
Of course if you like this idea, but don't want to use YSL, there are other colorful mascaras out there, high-end & drugstore brands, alike. Hooray for that relatively new convenience! I do hope this purple-themed ramble offers some food for thought. **p.s.: In case my Effet Faux Cils Lurrrve was at all infectious, I checked Ebay, & indeed found a couple well-reputed sellers have this exact mascara for 20 bucks. I know many people are squirmy about make-up from Ebay, & I am too; but sometimes it works out— & that's 1/3 off— worth mentioning, after singing my praises so high!
You can also try tightlining the waterline. This usually helps your lashes to look more full and darker at the root. You have to line the upperwaterline for this using a soft kohl pencil or even gel eyeliner.

I bought this at Viva from Masumi Max herself for $20 retail, have used it very slightly for my eyebrows. Brazilian Brown is a rich brown with a hint of golden glint. Not a matte, not a frosty color…Continue

So the first picture is natural brows. The second is with the left brow done. What I'm asking you ladies is some critic on it as I've never actually done my brows before I don't want to look silly. Continue
