Look out for Seche Vite top coat, I found mine for about $8 on amazon. I'm looking at my nails now with it on, and although it's begining to chip on some fingers, I had the colour and topcoat on for 6 days!!

Other than that - a good tip is to apply the colour and top coat to the ends/tips of the naills too - so the very ends/side of the nail is covered. Also it's better to apply more thin coats of polish rather than 1 thick one.

I just tried the Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips for the first time, and so far I am very impressed. The design I have is little pastel-colored birdies on a silvery white background. It's a very cute design! Everyone keeps asking to look at my nails. I've had them on for about four days now, and they still look great. They haven't chipped or worn out at all. They are pricey for all the time as they are about $10 for a pack for 16 strips, but for a special look I'd say it's worth it. Plus if they keep holding up this well, I'll really be getting my money's worth.

Otherwise, I've found Revlon nail polishes to be pretty good. They go on smooth and hold up well for a mid-priced brand. I agree with those who suggested top and base coats. I noticed that putting on the top coat lightly instead of slathering it on is actually more effective. I used Sally Hansen Extreme Wear nail polish (or something like that), and that stayed on a long time, too. It helps to keep your cuticles in check and have your nails in good shape before you start. For a cheaper brand, New York Color is pretty good. For a pricier brand, I like OPI.

Good quality nail polish including base coat, colour and top coat.
You can apply another layer of top coat every few days to keep it sealed.
Don't forget to keep hands out of water as much as possible, use rubber gloves if washing up.

GEL nails.
I just got them for the first time.
I work in a deli and everything I do is with my hands.
I have had them since the 2nd and today they are still perfect!

Bright red and sparkly,
I feel dressed up and fancy even in my safeway uniform!

Ty, now I have to check that out.-and find a great red nail polish.

I've had a similar dilemna but am finally getting a handle on it! I've started using rubber gloves to wash dishes, am using Seche Vite base and dry fast top coat (bought them at sally's beauty supply, they had buy 1 get 1 free so it was $8 for both) and am applying two thin coats of color instead of 1 perfect but thick coat because it would take too long to dry. Hope this helps! Good luck!

The Sally Hanson gel nail manicure really does last for a long time, they say 10-14 days, I usually get 11-16 out of it :)
